VOLUNTEERS
 
On the field:

  • Removing ticks (while the dogs are recovering from surgery, after being sterilised) and educating dog owners how they should keep their dogs free from ticks & fleas.
  • Cutting ‘rasta hair’ on some dogs, while they are sleeping & recovering from surgery.
  • Set up running chains for dogs who are kept on short chains.
  • Accompany the PAWS driver fetching animals in distress, and take photos of PAWS work for our newsletter with your own camera.
  • Help catching stray cats in Hotels on tourists’ request, for adoption or for export.

 
In PAWS Kennels & Cattery in Beau Vallon

  • Bath the dogs.
  • Walk the dogs on a leash.
  • Interaction with puppies and kittens.
  • Take photos of dogs & cats kept at PAWS for adoption, once a week.


Education

  • Assist PAWS Education coordinator in Social Centres and Schools, and contribute to the Animal Welfare Education programme.


In your Locality

  • Canvass for sterilisation in your region or any other region. This involves informing dog & cat owners about the importance of sterilisation, and send PAWS contact details of those who have accepted to have their animals sterilised.
  • Pick up all abandoned puppies and kittens you find, and keep them at your house until PAWS driver comes to fetch them.
  • Spread the word about PAWS amongst friends and relatives.


Fostering of Dogs and Cats

  • Keep a puppy or an adult dog at home for some days to socialise and feed until the next Adoption Day, if we already have too many animals at PAWS.


Fundraising and Special Events

  • Help with PAWS Fundraising activities – Shake a tin for Flag Day – Help at the PAWS Stands on Adoption Days and any other event.

  • Call PAWS to give your name for a Volunteer Training Course!

Volunteers Vet Needed!

We are always looking for volunteer vets, to work in our clinics and mobile clinics all over the island, for a minimum of 6 months and preferably for one year.
Experience in mass sterilisation campaigns is an advantage.
Vets: International accreditation qualification, at least four years experience, must be flexible and can work under pressure and who can lead a team.
