Adopt, don't BUY
When you adopt, you save two lives!
Open your heart and your home to a rescued kitten or cat. We have plenty of cats of all sizes, shapes and characters waiting for you at our two shelters.
What we require from someone wanting to adopt?
A cat can live about 15 to 20 years so it is big responsibility and a commitment you are taking. It is not a toy that can be returned. A cat is a family member. You need to be prepared to take care of him/her and give your cat the purr-fect life he/she deserves. You should be able to provide:
- at least 2 meals a day
- a fresh bowl of water
- a litter box where your cat can go pee and poo
- visits to the vet when your cat is sick or needs check-up
- lots of love and care
- toys, a scratch post and a cat tree for exercise
- that you spend time with your cat whenever s/he lets you !
Adopting a cat is a daily commitment for the next 15-20 years and you need to think carefully before adopting.
How to choose your next cat?
When adopting, please think about your lifestyle. A kitten will require more energy and time than an adult cat or a senior cat.
Where to adopt and what do you need to bring?
You can adopt at a PAWS shelter.
We are open Monday-Saturday 8am-4pm for adoption. Closed Sundays and public holidays (though you can make prior arrangements if you want to adopt on a Sunday or a public holiday). Please come at least an hour before closing time, so you can choose your next pet.
You have to bring an ID, fill in an adoption form, pay an adoption fee of Rs500 (that covers 1st vaccination + sterilisation of your pet). We will give you instructions on feeding times and what food to give. Please bring a cat box or a laundry basket that is secured so your kitten/cat can travel safely on the way home.
